It took quite some development time and effort to find the best possible upgrade for LX521s upper midrange driver.
LINKWITZ L10neo is a physical drop-in upgrade.
You just tame the speaker line by a 3.3Ohms resistor to cope with its stronger motor. Or lower the gain of HiMid DSP output channel by 4,5dB. Either one (not both!)
Panel cutout, mounting screws and voice coil terminals are identical, making the upgrade easy for the end-user to perform.
The distortion is much lower now, measurements TBA.
LINKWITZ L10neo provides:

I have the necessity to write you again regarding the L10neo after a lot of more extensive listening sessions and deep evaluations from my part. This is because every time I listen to it the more I’m impressed.
This driver is absolutely unbelievable! Craziest thing! It’s the most astonishing improvement of the LX521 I have ever heard. It’s much more than what I could even dream. The level of detail, silkiness, dynamics, clarity, instrumental separation and laser-like focalization of the virtual images are mind-blowing, surpassing by far the old driver, leaving it easily in the dust, even both SS 10F/8424 and 10F/8414.
It’s achieved a new and redefined parading for me. Now it’s in another league apart. The most striking sound I have ever listened in my life, period.
I’ve never had any doubt that the upper mid driver was the brain of the system, but with the L10neo this brain has reached a plateau of completeness and perfection that put the system alone at the top of the toppest.
This is not a mere LX521 upgrade or update, this is much more than that. Wow! I wish SL could have listened to this. He would smile totally pleased, proud of your work. He was absolutely right to choose you as the one to continue his legacy.

Sweet crystal clear. Multilayered detail the hidden percussion and sweet layers that rise in the air in the space in front of the listener. Zero distortion artifacts that you actually never realized were present with the previous driver are gone. What replaces the background blur of the MU10RB is a lively exciting refinement.
My wife who commented that it is, although the music was a different recording’ such details and life. Outstanding ! The new magnet addressed many issues we never knew existed. We are enjoying our music with new ears. Endless surprises hidden within keep jumping out of the airspace. 🙂 !!! Kris

Hi Frank,
I installed the new drivers and the resistors – all went well, and I placed the resistors in the well at the base of the upper driver module as recommended.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, I thought that the improvement might be small but boy, was I wrong.
Female voices has more clarity , some tracks where I previously had some trouble hearing words properly have become clearer, more intelligible.
Eva Cassidy singing Fields of Gold is delightful and on Take Me to the River her switch from emotional phrasing to boogie and power is great. The guitar and drums come through so well.
A completely different track and experience was hearing the Nils Lofgren band and the drumming by Andy Newmark on Girl in Motion – that is just wow!
Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentleman’s live track Mo Hippa has just started, I can see/hear I am in for some fun in my listening.
