LXstudio was designed to render sound recordings with clarity, neutrality and with detailed, 3D-like imaging, when properly set up. The speakers will reveal what is in a recording, but never add unpleasantness.
The LXstudio is 3-way loudspeaker that combines the LXmini with two LXsub4 dipole subwoofers, which have 10 dB higher output capability than can be obtained from the LXmini+2 configuration. A 10 dB increase is perceptually significant due to the ear’s very nonlinear hearing sensitivity to the lowest frequencies. With an LR2 crossover at a low 60 Hz the woofers can be placed against the side walls of a room and the LXsirius used as near-field monitors. Dipole woofers have the advantage of less room mode excitation, which matters even in a highly damped recording/mixing studio.
The frequency range extends from 25 Hz to 20 kHz. The horizontal and vertical off-axis frequency response, which is heard via the room, is spectrally neutral. Thus, listening off-axis merely changes the viewing angle to the phantom acoustic scene rendered by the seemingly absent loudspeakers.
The LXstudio was designed for a mixing studio application (symphonic music), where the conventional large box monitor loudspeakers gave uneven response, especially at low frequencies, despite the studio being highly damped and relatively large.
The LXstudio performs sonically like the LX521®, and comes close to the full-range dipole’s ultimate refinement of sound presentation. Its LXsub4 woofers come assembled from dark anthracite MDF, professionally joint with 45 deg miters, dull clear lacquered. Recessed woofer cable canals.
How to set up:
The music signal from your player (Turntable/CD/NetworkStreamer) is split on line level by an electronic crossover. ASP (analog signal processor) or DSP (digital signal processor). The split signals are amplified individually and sent to its dedicated driver.
To pair the best components for these duties -and to minimize cabling in the listening room-, find everything needed between (CD-)player and LXsirius in the PowerBox 6pro NCore : A precisionASP followed by six channels of NCore® amplification. Six channels mean, that PowerBox 6pro NCore is prepared to feed added subwoofers (LXsub2 or LXsub4) as well. Multicore cables with 1-click SpeakOn plugs establish an easy and safe connection betwween Power PowerBox 6pro NCore and LXstudio.
